One Simple SEO Tip To Increase Keyword Ranking in Google

Pay Per Click (PPC) can be expensive. Especially if you’re in a crowded, competitive field (as many ecommerce merchants are).

However, you can harness the power of your Google AdWords account to help boost your organic rankings… for FREE!

Google AdWords for better SEO

1. In your AdWords account, use the keyword tool (Reporting and Tools -> Keyword Tool) to see what people are typing into Google to find the products and services that you offer. This will give you a lot of insight into what words and phrases people use to find the things you’re selling.

2. Focus on one or two phrases that are popular, make sense for your business, and are not ones you’re already ranking quite well for.

3. Add a page or pages to your site with these phrases included in:

    • The <title> tag for the page
    • The headline for the page
    • Interspersed naturally in the body of the page

4. Compliment these pages with a blog post or two summarizing resources for these keywords / phrases

BAM!

You now have relevant content (and updated content on your blog) that is tailored for these popular phrases. As long as the pages you added have value, and have a call to action (i.e. “add to cart” button, newsletter sign-up, etc…) that people will want to follow, you should see an SEO boost as search engines index these new pages.

Your site may not rocket up to the top listing for these terms, but it’s an inexpensive way to help boost your exposure in Google and Bing.

I have spent a lot of money on keyword tools, trying to find something better than Google’s free adwords keyword tool, and I always end up coming back to using what Google charges nothing for.

This is a great tool that’s not perfect, but its pretty darn good considering the price for use.
