Through an order API in ShopSite, customers who place an order can be automatically subscribed to a mailing list, and you can setup autoresponders to send pre-determined emails at any interval (1 day, 1 week, 1 month) for things such as thanking them for their order, asking if they have any questions, to review the products they ordered, etc...

The API can also subscribe those customers who check the checkbox on the checkout page for being included in your newsletter list for any upcoming email campaigns that you send.
